Fall Prevention and Home Safety from licensed nurses

Falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults, and most happen at home. Many are preventable with small changes that families don't think of until someone points them out.

A Violet nurse looks at the home the way a patient moves through it, from bed to bathroom to kitchen to front door. We check lighting, rugs, stairs, bathroom grab points, footwear and the medications that cause dizziness, then give you a plain list of what to fix first.

Our nurses provide fall prevention and home safety in homes across the San Fernando Valley, Thousand Oaks, Santa Clarita and Valencia, and the Westside from Brentwood to Bel Air.

FAQ

Common questions about fall prevention and home safety

Do we need to remodel the house?

Rarely. Most fixes are simple, like better lighting, removing loose rugs, and adding grab bars.

Can physical therapy come to the home?

Yes, when ordered by the physician. Therapists work on balance, strength and safe walking.

What should we do after a fall?

If there's a head injury, severe pain or the person can't get up, call 911. Otherwise, contact the physician and let our nurse know.
